Professional Summary:

Bob Musick practices in the Springfield office of McAnany, Van Cleave & Phillips. His primary practice areas are workers’ compensation defense and civil defense matters, such as personal injury and products liability.

In workers’ compensation cases, Mr. Musick aggressively defends the interests of employers and their insurers to minimize their liability in matters of workrelated injuries, repetitive traumas and occupational diseases. In civil cases, his experience in drafting pleadings and in motion practice has taught him the benefit of prompt and thorough evaluation of the multitude of issues arising in complex litigation.

Mr. Musick handled hundreds of personal injury cases involving mass torts, such as asbestos-exposure and benzene-exposure, in the St. Louis metropolitan area, in both Missouri and Illinois. These mass tort cases frequently involve multiple plaintiffs and dozens of defendants, complicating the underlying substantive and procedural issues.

Additionally, Mr. Musick has served as an Illinois Assistant State’s Attorney, where he focused on prosecuting criminal felonies and other offenses. He tried dozens of cases in both jury trials and bench trials. In this office, he chaired the Madison County Domestic Violence Steering Committee, where he spearheaded the efforts of prosecutors, police, probation officers and advocates in implementing that Court’s first centralized docket for handling these problematic cases.

Through his representation of small municipalities, Mr. Musick is experienced in municipal corporation law. In this capacity, he oversaw public meetings and resolved issues that arose in matters such as budgeting, personnel, zoning and ordinance enforcement.

He resides in Springfield, with his wife, Trish, and their two sons, Nolan and Grant.
