Ryan W. Walkiewicz

Ryan Walkiewicz has been practicing law since 2008. He is a member of MVP’s civil litigation and insurance defense group. In addition to handling general liability matters, Ryan handles trucking and commercial automobile liability defense for regional, national, and international logistics, transportation and delivery companies. He also deals with cases involving retail liability, including the defense of restaurants, hotels, and retailers for premises liability and wrongful death claims.

Prior to joining MVP, Ryan spent over eleven years as an assistant district attorney. He has worked in both the Wyandotte County and Johnson County District Attorney’s Office. Ryan was a senior trial attorney and a member of the special victims unit. He gained extensive courtroom experience and has tried over 40 jury trials in his career, including cases involving the most serious offenses in the State of Kansas. Ryan now uses that trial and courtroom experience to assist clients engaged in civil litigation. He also has familiarity with appellate practice, having briefed and argued multiple cases before the Kansas Court of Appeals and the Kansas Supreme Court.

Ryan is a certified Civil Rights Investigator through the Association of Title IX Administrators (ATIXA). He has provided numerous trainings to community and professional organizations in the Kansas City area. Ryan has enjoyed working with a number of civic organizations, including Sunflower House, a child advocacy center that serves the communities of Wyandotte and Johnson County.

Ryan lives in Lawrence with his wife and two children. They are big fans of KU basketball and the Kansas City Royals. They also share their home with a large Newfoundland dog named Luna, who is about the size of a small pony.
