Byron A. Bowles Jr.

Byron Bowles is the President and CEO of McAnany, Van Cleave & Phillips. He has been practicing for 30 years and has been with MVP his entire career. Byron is a member of MVP’s civil litigation and insurance defense practice group.

In addition to general liability matters, Byron regularly handles cases involving retail liability, including the defense of restaurants, hotels and retailers for premises liability and wrongful death claims. Byron routinely handles trucking and commercial automobile liability defense for regional, national and international logistics, transportation and delivery companies. Byron also defends professional liability matters, including the defense of attorney legal malpractice claims. In addition, Byron defends breach of contract, extra-contractual and bad faith claims for insurance carriers.

Byron regularly presents to clients and industry professionals in all areas of his practice, including general litigation topics, retail liability, trucking and commercial automobile litigation and bad faith insurance matters. Byron is a graduate of the Litigation Management Institute (LMI) program, a selective certification program that provides a comprehensive understanding of the business of litigation management. Upon completion of the LMI program, Byron was awarded the Certified Litigation Management Professional (CLMP) designation. Byron is a member of the National Restaurant and Retailers Defense Association (NRRDA), the Council on Litigation Management (CLM) including the CLM Committee on Insurance Bad Faith, the Defense Research Institute, Inc. (DRI), including the DRI Committees on Trucking Law, Insurance Law and Professional Liability, the Missouri Organization of Defense Lawyers, the Transportation Lawyers Association, the Trucking Industry Defense Assocation, and the Risk Insurance Management Society (RIMS).

Before starting the practice of law Byron served six years in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves, achieving the rank of sergeant. He is a member of MENSA.
