Clifford K. Stubbs

Cliff Stubbs has been with MVP Law since 1991 and has served multiple terms on the firm’s Board of Directors. He focuses his practice on representing self-insured employers, third-party administrators, and insurance carriers in the defense of workers’ compensation claims in Kansas and Missouri. This includes public and private employers, school districts, manufacturers, restaurant chains, retail employers, distribution companies, medical and pharmaceutical companies, security providers, hotel chains, service providers, and others.

Cliff handles complex matters involving medical causation, permanent total disability, work disability, Medicare Set-Aside, medical bill liens, and social security disability off-set issues. He is responsible for the largest single fraud fine ever against a claimant in a Kansas litigated workers’ compensation case.

Cliff has chaired the American Bar Association Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section Workers’ Compensation and Employers’ Liability Law General Committee. He authors articles for the committee’s newsletter and regularly presents workers’ compensation seminars for clients, industry groups, and the Bar, including the National Workers’ Compensation and Disability Conference and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. The Kansas Bar Association recognized Cliff as the Outstanding Young Lawyer in Kansas in 1997. Ingram’s Magazine recognized him as one of the top 40 most influential Kansas Citians under 40 and KC Magazine named him as a Kansas-Missouri Super Lawyer in Workers’ Compensation. He is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He has been inducted as a Fellow in the College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers. Cliff has served on the Executive Counsel and Board of Governors for the Wyandotte County Bar Association, the Kansas Bar Association, the American Bar Association-YLD, and the American Bar Association-TIPS.

In addition to serving on various charity boards in the Kansas City area, Cliff chaired the Disaster Legal Services Committee for the Federal Emergency Management Association (FEMA) and coordinated disaster legal services for individuals affected by natural disasters throughout the country. When not working, he enjoys traveling, hiking, skiing and spending time with his family.
