Joy V. Fears
Joy Fears has been practicing law since 2016 and joined McAnany, Van Cleave, & Phillip’s civil litigation and insurance defense group in 2022. Before joining MVP Law, Joy defended the civil rights of individuals with disabilities and brings her passion for advocacy to her current practice.In addition to general liability matters, Joy handles trucking and commercial automobile liability defense for regional, national, and international logistics, transportation, and delivery companies. Joy is also involved with retail liability, including the defense of restaurants, hotels and retailers for premises liability and wrongful death claims. She defends professional liability matters including the defense of attorney legal malpractice claims.
Joy was admitted to the Missouri Bar’s Leadership Academy in 2021, which recruits young attorneys who are already outstanding leaders in their communities for participation in the program and a commitment to work for the Bar. Joy is also Vice Chair of Hope Family Care Center, a local clinic that was planted in the urban core of Kansas City to provide free or discounted medical care to this underserved population. While in law school, Joy was awarded the Stephen’s Prize, which honors one first-year student each year for excellence in legal writing.
Joy is originally from Houston, Texas, but has lived in Kansas City, Missouri since 2010. She is regularly involved in various volunteer opportunities with her church, including a mentorship and discipleship program for local college students. Joy enjoys baking healthy desserts, visiting local coffee shops, and hiking with her dog, Poppy.
