Stephen A. McManus

Steve McManus is the managing shareholder of the firms’ St. Louis office. He limits his practice to representing employers, insurance carriers, and third party administrators in the defense of workers’ compensation claims in Missouri and Illinois. Mr. McManus works with clients to reduce the number and severity of workers’ compensation claims.

Mr. McManus has successfully defended cases in the Missouri Supreme Court, Missouri and Illinois Court of Appeals, the Missouri Division of Workers’ Compensation, and the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission. Mr. McManus also counsels the self-insured association and Missouri and Illinois Chamber of Commerce regarding proposed legislation affecting workers’ compensation matters.

Mr. McManus speaks regularly at seminars and conferences in Missouri and Illinois on all aspects of workers’ compensation benefits and defenses. He also lectures on the use of Medicare Set Aside and Social Security Disability offset issues in workers’ compensation claims. He is AV rated by Martindale Hubbel. He has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America ® publication since 2010. He has also been listed in St. Louis Magazine’s Best Lawyers, and has been listed as a Super Lawyer® in Thompson Reuters’™ Magazine since 2009.

Mr. McManus represents a variety of clients in both Missouri and Illinois. They include Briggs & Stratton Engines, Walgreen’s, Inc., UPS, Illinois Central School Bus, Domino’s, Inc., Jack Cooper Transportation, Liberty Mutual Insurance, AIG, FCCI Insurance, Amerisure Insurance, Sedgwick Claims Services, and Gallagher Bassett Services.

Mr. McManus has served as the Vice-President of the firm’s Board of Directors, Board Member and is presently the Senior Vice-President of Business Development. He is also a member of the Missouri and Illinois Bar Association. He is on the Board of Directors for Kids’ Chance, Inc.

Mr. McManus grew up in rural Franklin County raising horses. He and his wife have five children. He is actively involved with coaching his kids’ sports teams.
